Two-factor authentication refused or "Check still needed"

A staff member blocked by 2FA: turn it on in Discord, sign in again, and check the state seen at their last sign-in.

On this page
  1. "Your Discord account has no two-factor authentication"
  2. "Check still needed"
  3. "Check unavailable"
  4. "Not from the in-game tablet"
  5. The administrator locked themselves out
  6. Check a member's state

In short. When the administration requires staff 2FA, Agora reads the 2FA state at Discord sign-in time. Almost every block is solved by signing out and back in.

"Your Discord account has no two-factor authentication" #

Discord answered that 2FA is missing.

  1. Discord → User Settings → My Account → turn on two-factor authentication.
  2. On the site: Sign out, then Sign in with Discord.

"Check still needed" #

Agora does not know yet whether the account is protected. This is normal:

  • right after the setting was turned on;
  • right after a promotion to staff;
  • for a member who has not signed in for a long time: what Discord said at their last sign-in expires after 30 days (their page then says "to recheck").

Sign out, then sign in again with Discord.

"Check unavailable" #

The database did not answer. Reload the page in a moment. Staff areas stay closed while Agora cannot check: this is on purpose.

"Not from the in-game tablet" #

Administration, the console and moderation never open from the tablet. Use your browser.

The administrator locked themselves out #

You turned the setting on without 2FA on your own account? Turn it on in Discord, then sign in again: access comes back at once. The forum stayed open.

Check a member's state #

Administration → Members → their page: "Discord 2FA: enabled (seen at their sign-in on …)", "MISSING" or "unknown", as seen at their last sign-in. "Unknown" means they must sign in again with Discord.
