Without access to the license server (offline trial and license)
An activated installation holds for days without contact thanks to its signed lease, then enters grace; an installation never activated stays on forum and MDT.

In short. Agora does not need the license server at every moment. An activated installation keeps a signed lease that covers it for several days. An outage never turns off the forum.
What needs the license server #

An activated installation loses contact #
- Agora keeps running on its last signed lease. It is usually valid for 14 days (the length depends on your license), and renewed every 6 hours once contact comes back.
- The License block shows the reason "the license server could not be reached for a while": this is not a license problem.
- If the lease runs out without contact, the 14-day grace period starts.
- Only then do the MDT and Pro lock. The forum stays open.
As soon as contact is back, everything recovers on its own. Check now forces a new attempt.
An installation never activated #
If the license server never answered from this installation:
- the state is Activation pending: forum and MDT, without Pro;
- this lasts up to 14 days after the database was created;
- the provisional trial (three days of everything) only starts after a first contact signed by the license server.
A server that must stay offline for a long time #
Talk to support before the outage: they can adjust your license's lease length, or give you a signed token to paste in Administration → Agora, Signed token (advanced) field, then Apply token.
