Move the “Other” reports to a department
After creating a department, its older reports stay in “Other”: the MDT departments page moves them author by author, once the game database is prepared.

In short. Creating a department (mechanic, taxi…) moves none of the older reports: those written before stay in "Other" and the new department starts empty. The MDT departments page (MDT → Settings → MDT departments) sends them, author by author, to the department that should read them. It is for administrators only.
Why by author #
A report does not keep the job of the person who wrote it, only their RP name. That is the only reliable trace of "who wrote it": Agora guesses nothing, so you tick the authors whose reports change department. An author who changed RP name counts as a different author.
Open the page #
Two paths lead to the same page:
- on the Other department card in MDT → Settings: Manage → Split this service's reports…. The link only shows while at least one report is left in "Other";
- under the title of MDT → Settings, the Open the game database preparation link, shown until the database is ready (step 1).
The page belongs to the MDT: without the license that covers it, it shows the license screen.
Step 1: prepare the game database (once) #
As long as the department column of the agora_reports table in your game database is an old closed list (POLICE, DOJ, EMS, AUTRE), the departments you create work (citizens, fleet, roster) except for their reports, and moving reports is refused. The orange Reports of created departments: prepare the game database block widens it:
- Read what the button does: a single command,
ALTER TABLE agora_reports MODIFY department VARCHAR(20) NOT NULL DEFAULT 'POLICE'. No report is lost or changed, no other column or table is touched. - Take a backup of the game database first, as for any structure change.
- Tick I confirm: change the structure of the agora_reports table… then Widen the column.
Agora's MySQL account needs the ALTER privilege on that table. Agora never runs this command on its own; the action is logged in the admin journal. Once done, the block is replaced by "The game database is ready: created departments have their reports."
Step 2: move the reports #
In the Move “Other” reports block:
- Tick the authors whose reports should leave. Each row shows its report count; the list is sorted by name and stops at 200 authors (once the first ones are moved, the next ones appear).
- In To department, pick the destination: only created departments that have the Reports section are offered (that section opens with the report permissions of the department's jobs: see Configure the MDT).
- Click Move their reports. The message "N report(s) moved." confirms it, and the action is logged in the admin journal (target department, number of reports, author names).
Moved reports are read by the members of the new department; "Other" no longer sees them.
No undo on the screen. "Other" is never offered as a destination: no button puts a report back in "Other". Re-read the ticked authors before confirming (200 at most per submission).
What you may read on screen #
| Message | Cause and fix |
|---|---|
| “Other” has no report. | Nothing to move (the Manage menu link disappears too) |
| No created department has the “Reports” section. | No job of a created department can read reports: add the permission in MDT → Settings |
| Tick at least one author. | No author was ticked |
| The game database is not configured | Connect it first: Connect the game database |
| The game database does not accept reports of created departments yet | Do step 1 |
| Cannot read reports from the game database right now | Database unreachable: try again, see Game database unreachable |
| Agora's MySQL account lacks the ALTER privilege on agora_reports | Grant it (or run the shown command yourself), then try again |
| The game database refused the change | Nothing changed: check the connection, then try again |
| Column state unreadable | Database unreachable or table missing: nothing was changed |
