The citizen portal: character, classifieds, the paper

In short. The portal is the part of the site made for players. It no longer has a menu of its own in the bar: My character and Applications open from My account (your name, top right), and the classifieds, the paper and the dealership from the matching blocks of the home page (the ones the administration places there). Only a player who linked their game finds their characters there.

My character #

My space → My character, open to any signed-in member while the portal is open.

A read-only page: identity, job, money (can be hidden), vehicles and their state, licenses, and their record (retained arrests, cumulative sentence, total owed, active warrants if you allow it). In game, the loaded character is shown. A conviction removed from the record never counts there, and if the character's court record cannot be read, their arrests are hidden rather than shown wrongly. An administrator can also view this page as a given player: View as a player.

Classifieds #

Any signed-in member whose account is linked to a character can post (Post an ad). The ad is signed by the character (name and phone read from the game database), never by the forum account.

• Categories: Vehicles, Real estate, Jobs, Services, Misc.
• 5 live ads per character, 14 days of life.
• Renew works in the last 4 days, or after expiry.
• Searching ads (in the title and the text) needs at least 2 characters, and searches are limited to 30 per minute per account. If a search is refused, the full list stays displayed, with the reason ("Type at least 2 characters to start the search", or "Too many searches in a row: wait a few seconds").
• Staff can Remove (moderation) an ad, with a reason the author finds in My ads.
• The title (3 to 80 characters) fits on one line: invisible characters (zero width, reversed writing direction) are removed, and at least one visible character must remain.

The paper #

A title, a lead, a text, a date. Read: every signed-in member. Write: staff, and players whose active character holds the press job. The whole newsroom can take over any article; the byline is fixed when written. The title (3 to 120 characters) and the lead are cleaned the same way as the ads: no invisible characters, and at least one visible character.

The newcomers banner #

A signed-in member without a character sees a banner at the top of the forum (Apply now, or Link my game if they already play) that sends them to their application or to linking their game.
