In short. Here is the full path, in order, from an empty machine to a tablet working in game. Each step points to its article and tells you how to recognize that it is done: move on to the next one only then.
Steps 1 to 5 are enough to get your Hub (your Agora site) and its forum. Steps 6 to 9 connect your game server and open the MDT and the tablet.
Before you start #
- A Discord account: every sign-in to Agora goes through it.
- For steps 6 to 9, access to your FiveM server (the
server.cfgfile and theresourcesfolder, through your host or over SFTP). - A word stops you? It is explained in the glossary.
The steps in order #
Install the Hub #
- Check what you need. A machine or a panel, a license key, Internet access and a Discord application. See Requirements. Done when you know where Agora will run.
- Get your license key. The free trial is a real key, valid for 14 days, to request in your space on agorapanel.com. The countdown only starts on the first launch of your installation. See The 14-day free trial. Done when you have your key (it starts with
AGORA-) or an install file that already contains it. - Choose your install route. Docker on a machine of your own, an egg on a Pterodactyl or Pelican panel, or the Node.js server of an ordinary host. See Choose between Docker, the panel egg and a Node.js server. Done when you know which of the three routes is yours.
- Install Agora. Follow the article for your route: Install with Docker, Install on Pterodactyl, Install on Pelican or Install on a host's Node.js server (not sure which of the two panels you have? See Tell Pelican and Pterodactyl apart). You have no database to prepare for the Hub: see The two Agora databases. <!-- À CONFIRMER : œuf tout-en-un (claude/pg-integre) --> Done when the console shows
Ready in …(the first start downloads Agora: allow a few minutes). - Do the getting-started setup. Open your Hub in a browser (
http://IP:PORT): the getting-started screen guides you in three steps. See First start and getting started. Done when you are administrator: the top bar shows Moderation, Server and Administration.
Connect your game server #
- Connect the game database. It is the MySQL or MariaDB database of your FiveM server, the one that already holds your characters. Read The two Agora databases first, then Connect the game server database. Done when the Test button shows the MySQL version and the number of characters.
- Attach your jobs to the MDT. Tell Agora which jobs and ranks make up the police, EMS, justice… See Configure the MDT. Done when every MDT department has its jobs.
- Put the Hub on HTTPS if needed. The FiveM resource refuses to talk to a site over
http://on a public address. If your Hub can only be reached overhttp://and a public address, switch to HTTPS first: see Behind a proxy. An address on your local network works without HTTPS. Done when your site opens with the padlock, or through a local address. - Install the FiveM resource and link your game. Drop the
agoraresource on your game server (one click if your panel is linked with the Pro tier, otherwise by dropping the zip by hand), then link your account to your game with a code. See Install the agora FiveM resource and Link your game to your account. Done when you open the tablet in game (/agoraor F2) and your character shows.
Look around and secure it #
- Discover the interface. See Finding your way. Done when you know what is in Moderation, Administration and Server.
- Connect the Discord bot (optional). It automatically gives your groups' Discord roles. See Connect Discord and Create and set up your Discord bot. Done when the banner shows "Bot connected".
- Make a first backup. See Backups and restore. Done when a backup shows in the list of Administration → Agora.
You know it worked when… #
- A player opens the tablet in game and sees their character.
- In a browser, you see the Moderation, Server and Administration entries of the top bar.
- Administration → Agora shows "Trial" or "Active", with no "Last error".
- Your Hub's
/api/healthaddress answers"ok": true.
